Shawn has been studying the Shakuhachi for 20 Plus years. Beginning his study around 2004 in Los Angeles. With sensei Kaoru Kakizakai, and he has been traveling back and forth from the United States to Japan to further his study, in the yokoyama style/ KSK, Kokusai Shakuhachi Kenshukan, translated as international shakuhachi study group, He also has a passion for making Shakuhachi both jiari and jinashi professional grade, Shakuhachi. At his Studio and Home in Santa Susana California. Shawn’s students generally come once a week or biweekly , for a one hour lesson, Lessons take place in a nice environment for shakuhachi. A traditional style Tatami and Tokonoma room. With the surrounding Santa Susana mountains, and beautiful Japanese garden and bonsai. Shawn will teach you traditional Honkyoku and Sankyoku shakuhachi. The studying and learning of shakuhachi, is a eye-opening journey That can change your life, it’s mindful relaxing therapeutic path!
