The Art of Making Japanese ChikuShin Utaguchi
ChikuShin Utaguchi’s are made by hand, using a Japanese rasp and file, inlaid in the blowing edge of the Bamboo. Using either acrylic ivory, Black acrylic, or water buffalo horn. Also silver or gold stripping around the outer edge can also be added. The final Inlaid material is tight polished to a shiny finish. There are three basic styles Kinko which has a triangle shape, And Tozan style which is a half moon shape. Or Myoan style which is in between the triangle and a half moon shape.
